Summer Reading Challenge for Children

The library’s summer reading program runs from June 15th to August 10th and we have something for everyone! Here you will find out how to participate in our online program or how to log your reading on paper. Read and earn prizes each week! We also have a variety of fun programs and activities to offer kids of all ages.

See you at the library this summer!

Elementary Expedition: Grades 1st through 4th

Kids entering 1st through 4th grade in September 2024 can enroll in the library’s Elementary Expedition summer reading challenge.

Set your own reading goal for our 8-week program and earn prizes when you make progress each week. For example, if you’d like to read 15 minutes a day, every day through the 8-week program, you would set your goal at 840 minutes. It is your choice how much you want to read and how you want to work reading into your summer routine.

Choose to track your summer reading online or on paper!

Track your reading online through a website called Engaged Patrons. Register here, track your reading goal, and visit the library each week to claim yor prize!

Do you prefer tracking your goals on paper? Register here. Then pick up a paper log at the library, or download it here to print at home.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is a program designed to help parents prepare their children for one of life’s big milestones: Kindergarten. Research has shown that children get ready to read long before they enter school. An excellent way to get your child ready to learn is to read to them.
