Makers Day 2024

NJ Makers Day is designed to be a statewide event that celebrates, promotes, and in many cases may introduce maker culture, as well as the values associated with making, tinkering and STEM-based learning.  Come celebrate (& create!) with us!

Activities will be available throughout the day while supplies last.  Just drop in!

Come see a live demonstration of LEGO robots! Watch them in action and learn what it takes to make one yourself.  Presented by the Livingston Robotics Club.

Introduction to 3D Printing

AN INTRODUCTION TO 3D PRINTING

Join us for a special, interactive presentation! On display will be examples of 3D prints to demonstrate what can be achieved with these remarkable printers. Watch the designing process in a CAD session. You will be challenged to problem solve and determine how to design certain things. The presenter will showcase how to manipulate shapes and perform easy and advanced operations on TinkerCAD.  Please R.S.V.P. below, or feel free to drop in!

    • Try out your engineering skills!  Create a simple catapult and see how far you can make a marshmallow fly.
    • Ages 6+ 

Mini Art Tiles

    • Use a variety of supplies to paint, glue, jewels, or Sharpies to decorate a small tile. Make your own coaster, use it as an ornament, or just place it on your mantle to enjoy. 
    • Ages 5+

    • A Thaumatrope or “wonder turner” is an optical illusion based on combining two images with movement.

    • See what you get when you take home one of our mystery take & make craft bags. It could be anything! 
    • Ages 3+

String Spinner Toys

    • These spinner toys are bright and colorful, and they’re so cool to play with! Watch the colors combine as the string spinner whirls through the air.

    • With a few simple folds, create a unique paper bookmark.
    • Ages 7+

Jewelry Making

    • Try your hand at beadwork! Make a stretchy bracelet, a beaded bookmark, or a Morse code bracelet.
    • Ages 8+

Yarn Octopus

    • It’s tentacle time! Make an adorable octopus doll out of yarn. No other skills required than wrapping string and braiding.
