Exquisite Things by Abdi Nazemian
Exquisite Things by Abdi Nazemian follows two immortal boys who are stuck at the age of seventeen years old in England. Shahriar was born during the late 1800’s, and feels like he doesn’t belong as he looks for love in a homophobic world. Oliver was born in the early 1900’s, and is experiencing the same feelings as Shahriar. While Oliver is going to a queer club with his older cousin and friends, he meets Shahriar and they hit it off right away. This book shows how powerful love is, as well as the struggles the LGBTQ+ has faced throughout the years.
I personally enjoyed this book. I love how there are multiple points of views and how Abdi Nazemian writes and teaches readers about the queer community’s history. I highly recommend this novel for anybody who wants a thought-provoking story.
